Mataram, Indonesia - More than 500 hikers and their guides have been successfully evacuated from an Indonesian volcano after a deadly earthquake triggered landslides that trapped them on the mountain, an official said Tuesday.

Some 300 Thai nationals have been rescued from an Indonesian volcanic mountain after a powerful earthquake hit the area on Sunday, and are scheduled to return home today, said the Thai Ambassador to Jakarta yesterday.
