Global science initiative GISAID has reported that Europe and South Africa have found more patients infected with Omicron, specifically the BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants, which have mutated from the original Covid virus found in Wuhan, Dr Wasan Chantrathit, chief of Ramathibodi Hospital’s Centre for Medical Genomics, said on Wednesday.

Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha on Tuesday told the International Strategic Dialogue on Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that Thailand has taken concrete action to achieve SDG 3.4 on “reducing by one third premature mortality from NCDs” and SDG 3.8 on “achieving universal health coverage” by 2030.

According to the World Health Organisation, liver cancer has been the No 1 killer across the world for many years. In 2020 alone, up to 27,394 people in Thailand died from the disease and the number of new liver cancer patients is rising.
