A China-Myanmar train on the new Chongyun-Lancang-Mandalay route, which departed from Chongyun on May 23, will arrive in Mandalay city on June 6 after a journey of 15 days, the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar said in a statement.

More than 50 patients died on July 14 alone in Mandalay and up to 315 people are died from July 1 to 14 in Mandalay, according to charities.

A shootout occurred this morning in Chanmyathazi Township, Mandalay Region, according to neighbourhood residents.

The authorities detained 13 people in Mandalay and seized weapons including 21 M-22 rifles, one M-16 rifle, their ammunitions, a homemade gun, 16 homemade bombs, 133 hand grenades, 2,400 detonators, 19 TNT bullets, a mine detector and 18 strings to explode bombs and they confessed that the weapons are intended for People Defence Force (PDF) in Tamu, announced Tatmadaw True News Information Team on June 3.

According to locals, there were several bombs that exploded along widely used roads on May 14s evening. They say that blasts occurred along 26th, 35th, 66th, 62nd and 84th roads and that those blasts could be heard from all over the city.

As people were gathering for the medical protest column in Mandalay on April 15, security forces arrived to disperse them. A person was also shot dead after within the Sule Mosque compound afterwards.

Police have started arresting anti-military coup protestors at about 10 am today and around 40 have been arrested in Mandalay Region. 

Around 100 staff from Mandalay Orthopedic Hospital including doctors and nurses launched a “red ribbon campaign” in protest against the military coup at about 9 am today.    

Mandalay Mayor Dr Ye Lwin has reportedly arrived back and has been put at home under the control of security guards.
