"Long Covid"

People with symptoms of long Covid can now seek treatment at special clinics set up by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) at nine hospitals in the city.

People who have recovered from Covid-19 may develop up to 62 underlying conditions that may last for many weeks or even months.

An expert on infectious diseases revealed nine facts about “post-Covid conditions”, or “long Covid”.

Some people who have been infected with Covid-19 can experience effects from their infection, known as post-Covid conditions (PCC) or long Covid. Current evidence suggests approximately 10%-20% of people experience a variety of effects after they recover from their initial illness. 

The Department of Medical Services recently issued a list of symptoms sufferers of long Covid may develop and what they can do to protect themselves.

A medical teacher at Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Medicine on Monday warned parents of possible long-term effects of Covid-19 on children.

Many people worldwide are paying attention to “long Covid” symptoms among patients, as it also affects their relatives and the country, Chulalongkorn University Faculty of Medicine lecturer Thira Woratanarat wrote in a Facebook post on Monday.

Up to 1 million people in Thailand may be suffering from long Covid, which may create labour shortages in the future, research shows.
