THE CABINET yesterday cleared a bill to legalise the medical use of marijuana but added a condition that the legalisation must be reviewed after five years.

In a meeting yesterday, the Cabinet approved drafts that will add legal conditions to support small- and medium-enterprises (SMEs), allow the setting up of trade associations and raise registration fees to help cope with the country’s economic situation. 

The Cabinet on Tuesday agreed with the Finance Ministry’s proposal in a draft bill to collect a windfall tax from property owners benefiting from expressway, mass transit, high-speed rail, airport and other infrastructure projects. 

A DRAFT LAW, which allows marijuana use for medical purposes, has sailed through the Cabinet.

The Cabinet on Tuesday approved a plan to construct a high-speed rail route linking three major airports: Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang in Bangkok, and U-Tapao in the east of Rayong province.

THE CABINET yesterday approved a Bt35.6-billion spending package as part of the second stage of the government’s poverty-reduction programme featuring job offers, vocational training, low-interest loans and personalised services for up to 4.9 million low-income people nationwide.

THE CABINET has given approval in principle to nine flood- and drought-prevention plans in the Lower Chao Phraya River Basin, with the full details and budget of the projects to be submitted for its consideration next week.
