Car kills pregnant cow, carcass auctioned for Bt10,000

A pregnant cow was killed by a car in Nong Khai’s Muang district on Monday morning.

Since the cow’s owner could not be found, its carcass was auctioned by police to a local resident for Bt10,000.
The money was given to the car driver, Somchai Poonpaksorn, 66, to help cover the car’s repairs. He was not charged with an offence.
Police said the accident happened on the Thai-Lao Friendship bypass road.
Somchai told police the cow suddenly appeared on the road and he could not stop in time.
