Philippine school hostage crisis over, all safe: military
MANILA - Islamic militants who were using civilians as human shields while occupying a Philippine school fled on Wednesday night, and all 31 hostages are safe, two military spokespeople told AFP.
"It's all resolved, all the hostages have been accounted for, no one was hurt," national military spokesman Brigadier General Restituto Padilla told AFP by phone. A local military spokesman gave the same account.
