Two killed, five injured in truck crash in Trat


A speeding pickup truck crashed into a trailer truck late Thursday night, killing two people and injuring five others in Trat province.

Police said the accident happened at 11.30 pm on the Khao Saming-Trat Road in Khao Saming district.
The pickup driver, Prapas Wichianrat, 35, died at the scene along with a front passenger, Kittisak Sangwalngern, 25.
The five injured include a two-year-old girl. One of the injured, Watcharpong Ketnok, 20, was sent to the Khao Saming Hospital. Thongchai Jomkhamsing, 25, Thanya Jomkhamsing, 25, Ekkarin Rintho, 20 and the girl were sent to the Trat hospital.
Police said the trailer truck had just left its office nearby and driven 30 metres against the traffic to use the U-turn when the accident occurred.
The pickup was driving from Khao Saming to Trat and could not stop when the trailer truck veered across lanes to the U-turn.
The trailer truck driver, identified only as Charn, left the scene and returned to his office where he was arrested.
