Trang River bursts banks, local residents evacuated


The Trang River burst its banks Saturday morning, prompting people living in communities along the river in several tambons in Mueang district to evacuate to live on higher grounds.

Officials said the river started bursting its banks since 7 am, inundating many parts of Tambon Nong Trut, Tambon Nalung and Tambon Bang Rak.
The river overflew following heavy rains throughout the night. Moreover, the officials said, the floodwaters from upstream Nakhon Si Thammarat has arrived.
So far, the Trang provincial administration has declared six districts of Nayong, Ratsada, Huayyod, Kantang, Wang Wiset, and Mueant as flood-hit disaster zones.
