Beware of the fine print in Abhisit’s vow
Re: “Doubt greets Abhisit’s shunning of Prayut’s continued leadership”, Front page, yesterday.
Here we have another attempt by Abhisit to fool voters. Always read the fine print.
Abhisit said “I won’t” support Prayut’s return to power as PM, not “The Democrat party won’t”. This is Abhisit’s personal vow (subject to change without notice), not his party’s commitment. He made the vow in hope of drawing votes from those in the anti-military camp. Good try, though, Mr AV. However, past events have shown that the Democrat Party does align itself with the military. After the March 24 election, every party (except Thaksin’s allies) will do anything to be part of the coalition government – and that means supporting Prayut as prime minister.
Then we will hear Abhisit’s clarification: “I said that as an individual not as the leader of Democrat party.”
