The fair runs until July 13 and is hosted by Jaratchai Chokeruengsakul, Vice Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima.
The prize-winning root was the heaviest from a single tree and came from the tapioca farm of Narong Suwandee in Rangka Yai, Phimai, Nakhon Ratchasima.
The fair, which is being attended by tapioca factory operators and cultivators from across the Northeast, is held to educate and introduce farmers to new agricultural technologies.
Nakhon Ratchasima is famous for its cassava-tapioca farms, which cover more than 31,900,000 rai in the province.
Thailand exports more than 7 million tapioca plants each year, fetching a healthy price of 3 baht per kilo.
