Floods paralyse Phuket roads, flights diverted
Large sections of Phuket were underwater on Tuesday night after two hours of heavy rain early in the evening.
Streets in Phuket Town and Thalang were flooded by the brief but intense showers.
Some commercial aircraft were unable to land safely at Phuket International Airport and were diverted to Krabi, Hat Yai and Surat Thani.
These included Air Asia Flights FD3021 and FD3025, Thai Airways Flight TG217 and Bangkok Airways Flight PG277, all from Bangkok, and Etihad Airways Flight EY430 from Abu Dhabi.
Other flights affected:
• Nok Air DD7520 from Don Mueang Airport diverted to Surat Thani;
• Xiamen MF8679 from Fuzhou Changle Airport diverted to Surat Thani;
• Thai Vietjet VZ310 from Suvarnabhumi Airport diverted to Krabi.
