Officials in Mahasarkham are racing against time to give the rabies vaccine to some 3,300 dogs and cats in 30 communities in Muang district following an outbreak there.
Kittisak Khanasawat, mayor of Muang Mahasarakham municipality, said the provincial administration is mobilising officials to inoculate the animals.
He said 15 dogs in Muang district have tested positive to rabies so far this year, with the latest case being a dog at Wat Pa Supamitr in Tambon Talad.
