The victim, Masae Kunomae, 44, was a resident of Moo 2 village in tambon Bor-ngo in Rangae. His body and his motorcycle were spotted on Parse-Kanua Road in tambon Chalerm.
He was shot five times with an M16 assault rifle and shot in the mouth with a .357 pistol, with the bullet piercing his neck, police said.
Locals said they heard gunfire at around midnight but nobody dared to come out to check what had happened.
Police suspect that the victim was lured to the spot to talk to his assailants and after being shot with the assault rifle, he was killed by the shot to the mouth.
