Surin’s immigration police checked the main market in the district’s downtown at 5am following complaints that migrants were competing with Thais in selling goods there.
Police said that when they arrived, the migrants tried to run away but officers managed to round up 20 of them.
Fifteen showed documents allowing them to work for their Thai employers, while five of the Cambodian vendors lacked documents and work permits.
The five Cambodians were taken to Prasat police station for legal action and will be later deported.
