Computer programmer commits suicide in Bangkok house
A computer programmer with an honors degree from a prestigious university shot himself to death on Monday morning after suffering from a headache and depression, police said.
Pol Captain Anuchit Chartchuliam, deputy inspector of Thung Song Hong police station, said Natthaphat (surname withheld), 23, was killed by a gunshot wound on his right temple at his house in Bangkok’s Lak Si district.
A .38 revolver was found near his body. He left a suicide note leaving his valuables to his mother. The note stated that it was his second suicide attempt after the first failed. He also made note of the password for unlocking his phone to see a clip of the first attempt.
Police learned from the family that Natthaphat had an honours bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Mahidol University. He had been working as a programmer, writing codes embedded onto computer chips for a firm.
He had been suffering from a headache and depression and lived in the house with his father.
The father noticed that Natthaphat had not left home for work and so checked the bedroom and found it was locked inside. The father broke the room open and found the body, police said.
