Soldier drowns at Bang Lang Dam
A soldier from the Yala-based development corps drowned when his boat sank while returning to base after handing out necessities to indigenous people living in forests.
Officials said the accident happened in the Bang Lang Dam on Wednesday afternoon and the body of Sgt Thassana Lairaksa was found at 2.40pm.
Thassana was deputy commander of the Ban Chulabhorn Pattana 9 base in Tambon Mae Wad in Yala's Than To district..
His boat sank while he was returning to base after he and subordinates distributed foods and necessities to Orang Asli aboriginal people who live in forests at the edge of the dam.
