Deputy governor Sakhon Rungreung on Sunday revealed that the province’s committee for aid to disaster victims held a meeting late last week to consider aid to the flood-affected villages.
Meanwhile, the weather bureau warned the upper North and upper Northeast to brace for heavy rains, as well as isolated heavy downpours due to the monsoon trough hovering over the area from August 5-9. Thai Meteorological Department director-general Wanchai Sakudomchai said in the weather warning on Sunday that residents in risky areas of these upper regions should brace for possible floods and landslides.
During this same period, residents along the coast of the western South and the East should beware strong winds and waves up to 4 metres high in the Andaman Sea and up to 3 metres high in the upper Gulf, the department said, urging all ships to proceed with caution, and small boats to stay ashore.
