Still in harvest, quality rice already sold


Farmers in Uttaradit on Wednesday struck a deal to sell rice that will be harvested over the next two months.

Thaporn na Nakhon, the regional head of the farmers’ cooperative, presided over the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) with local rice mills.
“This MOU covers 74,851 rai of paddy fields,” he said. “Altogether, they will deliver more than 100,000 tonnes of rice”. 
Muang Uttaradit Farmers’ Cooperative manager Praphan Mayanyong said the nigh-quality rice would be bought at Bt200 per tonne. 
“We aim to develop a solid and efficient system for rice trading. This MOU gives farmers a clear market for their crops,” he said.
