Net censorship attacked

The country's children are addicted to online games while adults use the Internet mainly for entertainment, the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) said yesterday.

ThaiHealth ICT Division deputy chief Klaikong Vaidhya-karn said a recent poll found that the 20 most popular websites were entertainment-based, with education-based websites at 28 and 42 in the rankings. The No 1 search word for users under 25 was "game".

Noting that websites with obscene content were as popular as ever, he urged the government to set up a rating system for their content rather than blocking websites.

He made the comments at a press conference for the 2nd Digital Learning Contest, whose deadline for applications is November 30. Visit www.ThaiGoodView.com |for contest details.
