Heroes and heroines in Sing Buri
Visit Sing Buri's Khai Bang Rachan district, and tab on the local heroes and heroines.
From Monday until February 6, the "Bang Rachan Heroes, World Heroes" festival is being organised by the local people in cooperation with a US partner from Alamo Camp in Texas to honour the battle of ordinary people. Stage performances, live concerts and colourful show provide the entertainment. During the Ayutthaya era, the Bang Rachan people were recognised for standing up against the much more powerful Burmese troops.
Billed as Rose of the North, Chiang Mai province will be hosting Chiang Mai Flower Festival from Friday to Sunday. The festival promise the visitors more than 25 flower floats, Miss Flower & Miss Flower Blooming Beauty Contest, an agricultural exhibition and fair, plus exhibitions of flower arrangement, decorative plants, and gardening shows. Bangkok's Chinatown marks the Year of Snake with vibrant cultural shows and food adventures on February 9 and 10. The highlights are cultural shows from seven Chinese provinces including Tibetan dances, light displays and more. Foodies will find Chinatown plenty of yummy opportunities as hundreds of stalls ply their trade, offering everything from finest egg noodle to crispy roasted duck.
Sunshine and straw
The Straw Bird Festival takes place in the central province of Chainat from February 8 to 17. One of the highlights will be a spectacular procession of gigantic birds fashioned out of rice straw. Other activities include a Thai Red Cross fair, a bazaar of local products under the "One Tambon, One Product" (OTOP) program, a contest of straw birds, a food fair, and cultural shows.
