Bargains and Bhutan
To commemorate 25 years of diplomatic relations between Bhutan and Thailand, Thai citizens and expats that can prove residency in Thailand get a 50-per-cent discount on airfare and hotel fees. During this promotion Thai visitors will not have to pay the mandatory US$200 per person per day minimum package rate. The daily royalty of $ 65 – which goes to fund Bhutanese medical and educational programs – still applies, but hotels will be offering special room rates while Drukair and Bhutan Airlines are offering 50 per cent off fares for flights out of Bangkok. The offer is valid from June 1 to August 31 and visitors will be required to book their trip through licensed Bhutanese tour operators.
