Jazz guitarist Jerry Bird celebrates May Day with a concert tonight at the Hansar Bangkok. Bird, who has played with such jazz greats such as Roland Kirk, Jack McDuff, Sonny Stitt, Lonnie Smith, Dizzy Gillespie, Frank Foster and Slide Hampton, performs from 7.30pm.

Thailand voted favourite destination
Thailand came out on top in findings from a CNN global survey released recently, making it Asia's favourite tourism destination. An impressive 16 per cent of all respondents would consider going to Thailand in the next 12 months, and almost a quarter (23 per cent) of all CNN travellers to Asia Pacific have been to the kingdom within the past 12 months. The results also show that Asia Pacific respondents rank Thailand behind only the US and the UK as a global destination they would consider visiting.
Hong Kong flies high
Hong Kong Airlines adds another daily flight to its Bangkok route, offering more choices to travellers. The new schedule, which kicked off last Saturday, increases the number of flights between Hong Kong and Bangkok from four to five daily, with all flights operated by Airbus A330 aircraft with an average fleet age of one year. From tomorrow, one more flight service will be added to the daily Hong Kong-Phuket route.
Hilton saves the world
Hilton Worldwide has announced the extension of its Carbon Offset Programme in Southeast Asia with the inclusion of Conrad Bali and Hilton Bandung in Indonesia. They join 11 existing properties in Southeast Asia already offsetting carbon emissions from events and meetings. Since its introduction last October, the Hilton Worldwide Carbon Offset Programme in Southeast Asia has successfully offset more than 4,500 tonnes of carbon emissions. The amount of carbon offset is equivalent to taking 470 flights around the world.
