Over 200 executives, IT professionals join Fortinet's security conference
Fortinet has organised a security conference which was attended by more than 200 senior business executives and IT professionals from the government, education, financial services and telecom sectors.
The "Security 361 degrees" event was held at the IT security conference at the Arnoma Hotel in Bangkok to demonstrate Thai organisations how to fight increasingly sophisticated threats like advanced persistent threats (APTs) and application-based malware.Fortinet also used the event to advise the organizations on how to leverage mobile devices to boost employee productivity without compromising security.
For the panel discussion entitled "Beyond BYOD − What’s Next for Security in a Borderless World?", Fortinet was joined by industry veterans from Novell and AIS to discuss the Bring-Your-Own-Device trend, mobile and cloud deployments, and emerging enterprise security issues. Members of the audience participated by asking thought-provoking questions and sharing personal experiences.
"The security and networking landscape has changed. As BYOD and cloud take centre stage in enterprises’ IT operations, the network must become more intelligent and controllable so that it can effectively support multiple users, devices and applications without losing sight of business objectives," Peerapong Jongvibool, Fortinet’s Country Manager for Thailand, said.
Fortinet’s recently launched FortiOS5.0 operating system that comes with its FortiGate integrated multi-threat appliances provide this intelligence and control to the network. FortiOS5.0 integrates features that allow advanced identification and management of user and device behaviors − including reputation-based policies, better botnet detection, and protection and inspection of encrypted traffic − and works seamlessly with Fortinet’s other security solutions like FortiWeb, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer and FortiAP to provide a consolidated security platform across the enterprise.
