Huawei Combines Power and Value in New Ascend Smartphones
Huawei has introduced new Android smartphones in the Ascend series to provide consumers with great devices at affordable prices.
"Our Ascend smartphones have done very well in European markets," said Tu Ming, Director of Device Business Group, Huawei Technologies (Thailand). "The launch of these new devices in Thailand represents our intention to offer new alternatives in the Thai smart device market that brings together high-end performance, stylish design, and great prices."
Huawei's Ascend lineup in Thailand is spearheaded by the Ascend P1, an ultra-slim smartphone that packs a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, full support for five 3G bands, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, a vibrant 4.3-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen, and an 8-megapixel camera inside its 7.69mm-thin body. The Ascend P1 is available now at Bt14,990.
Accompanying the Ascend P1 in this launch are two additional Ascend models. The mid-range Ascend G300 comes with a 1GHz processor, 4-inch touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera, and full support for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for Bt6,990. The value-oriented Ascend Y200 offers good performance at a great price with an 800MHz processor and a 3.2-megapixel camera for just Bt4,490.
The Huawei smartphone lineup is rounded out by the Honor, a Bt9,990 Android smartphone that boasts extra-long standby times thanks to its high-capacity 1930mAh battery, an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus and HDR, and a 1.4GHz processor.
"Our initial goal as a new player in the Thai market is to achieve sales of 100,000 smartphones and tablets in 2012," said Mr. Watchara Wetcharuwat, Product Manager for Huawei Device. "We are working on adding more and more distribution channels for our devices, including the leading mobile operators, and we can confirm that more new products will arrive in the very near future."
In addition to the Ascend and Honor smartphones launched today, Huawei plans to introduce the Ascend P1 S - one of the world's thinnest smartphones at just 6.69mm thickness - by the end of the year along with two new Android tablets. A brand-new Ascend series phone based on Microsoft's new Windows Phone 8 operating system will also be unveiled later this year as Huawei seeks to break into the top three of the global smartphone market by 2015.
The Huawei Ascend P1, Ascend G300, Ascend Y200, and Honor are available now at 122 TGFone stores nationwide. After-sales services for all Huawei devices are provided at 58 locations all around the country through partners IT City and SVOA.
