Central Chidlom was transformed into a flower garden last week for a rich display of Thai harmony

Her Royal Highness Princess Srirasmi, the Royal Consort of HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, and her son HRH Prince Dhipankara Rasmijoti  recently presided over the annual flower extravaganza at Central Childlom.
Under the theme “The Wonder of Flora”, the flower arrangements were designed by professionals Suntipong Kongrak, Panitan Thongsatit and Suksan Jeamkosit. The event, jointly supported by the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek Project and the Royal Project, brought rare and exotic flowers and plants to Bangkok as an appetiser for the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek in Chiang Mai next month.
All seven floors of the department store were transformed into spectacular flower gardens. Suntipong was responsible for the 1st ,5th and 6th floors. The flowers here were arranged in the form of an umbrella, to represent the protective shade provided for the people by His Majesty the King’s virtues, and a lantern to signify his guiding light. The clever use of small flowers in various shades reflected Thai people from all walks of life unified in their honour for His Majesty.
Panitan decorated the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors using tens of thousands of multicoloured orchids arranged in circle as a show of Thai people’s togetherness, as well as a golden bamboo tower of flowers to suggest the stability and cooperation of the populace.
Meanwhile, Suksan decorated the Food Loft on the 7th floor to illustrate the abundance of the Kingdom, recreating a paddy field alongside a flower frame with traditional Thai kanok flame motif to symbolise the fertile benevolence of earth and sky.
The Mardi Gras after the opening ceremony saw guests turn up in fancy dress to enjoy the fashion shows. Model Rassamee Tongsiripaisri showed off an elaborate costume of flowers and bedecked with 590 carats of ruby and diamonds. DJs from Hot Wave Radio station and a turn from the Academy Fantasia 3 singers rounded off the night.
