AP Honda thrilled local children with the English Premier League trophy and the chance to meet two of Manchester United's former stars, ex-captain Bryan Robson and right-back Paul Parker, yesterday.

On the eve of the "Honda Red Champion…Road to Liverpool and Manchester United School" finals today at Rajamangala National stadium, AP Honda handed youngsters battling for the chance to train at the two English clubs' academies, a memorable experience at Centara Grand Hyatt Hotel.

After getting their hands on the trophy, the kids heard the two former United players share their memories of winning the English game's top prize.

"Since the Premier League came around, Manchester United have done really well because we actually won it in the first year [1992-93]," said Robson, who is back on a visit after quitting as Thailand coach last year.

"Liverpool back then had won the title probably 11 times more than us, but now we have overtaken them with a record 19th top-flight title. That's fantastic for the club because we pride ourselves on trying to be the best football club in the world."

Former England international Parker said despite the EPL title not being the first trophy he won with United, he would never forget the feeling of lifting it. "I won my first title with United in the League Cup in 1992. But, to actually pick up the Premier League trophy was something I never expected to happen," said Parker, who now lives in Singapore.

AP Honda director Alaksh Phornprapha hopes that seeing the silverware will inspire young Thai footballers. "As Manchester United's partner, we are delighted to bring the trophy to the young players. We hope this can inspire them on their journey to become top players."
