Brazil's Falcao out of Futsal World Cup
Brazil's Futsal World Cup campaign suffered a huge blow when their biggest star, Falcao, limped out of their opening Group C game with a right-calf injury. "My dream of playing a fourth World Cup may be over," said the 35-year-old, following Brazil's 4-1 winning start against Japan in Nakhon Ratchasima on Thursday night.
Thailand had earlier kicked off their campaign as hosts with a 3-1 win against Concacaf champions Costa Rica in Group A.
The tournament for the world's top 24 teams will see a total of 52 matches played including the final on November 18.
Visa, a sponsor of the tournament, is giving cardholders who buy more than Bt3,000 of official tournament merchandise a 30-per-cent discount on their next item purchased. The discounts apply only at the stadiums - Bangkok Futsal Arena, Indoor Stadium Hua Mark, Nimibutr Gymnasium and Korat Chatchai Hall.
"The excitement is building at Thailand's first ever Futsal World Cup, and we want to reward our cardholders when they go to the matches. In August, we offered special privileges on early-bird tickets and now we want to keep that buzz going with this special merchandise promotion. This is a key sporting event for Thailand and we expect huge crowds," said Somboon Krobteeranon, Visa country manager.
