The month started police success in arresting Anuchit Lamlert, who allegedly killed two Russian female tourists in a robbery-gone-wrong in Pattaya on February 24. Police continued their investigation as they suspected Anuchit was a hired gunman.
Down South, on March 14, militants executed eight Buddhists and left another seriously injured in a brutal morning ambush on a civilian minibus in Yala, prompting a curfew to be declared shortly afterwards for Yaha and Bannang Sata districts. Less than a week later, a horrendous bus accident in Saraburi killed 29 passengers and injured 34 others.
