There were many political rallies in June, all of which were organised by pro-Thaksin groups against the junta-installed government and the Council for National Security, which staged the military coup. The most violent clashes took place on the weekend of June 9 and June 10. A coalition of pro-Thaksin movements blocked Rajdamneon Avenue in front of the Army headquarters and was later dispersed by anti-riot policemen using tear gas. They staged another rally the day after and marched to the residence of the Privy Council President Prem Tinsulanonda on Phisanulok Road, and later clashed with security forces who were preventing the protesters from entering the compound. Many protest leaders were later arrested.

The AEC ordered again on June 18 to freeze another chunk of assets worth around Bt8.8 billion and indicted Thaksin and wife Pochaman in a corruption case involving their purchase of a land plot in the Rachadaphisek area.
On June 21, Manchester City football club of England accepted Thaksin's bid for  total club ownership worth Bt5.63 billlion through the UK Sports Investment, which represented him. Final approval from the FA was pending.
A 4.5-measured earthquake with the epicentre in Chiang Mai's Mae Rim district occurred on June 19, causing no known injuries or deaths.
