I think it is a good idea to have a Tsunami Memorial Day every year from the day the tsunami came in 2004. We should not forget it.
My husband and I were in Khao Lak that day and our rescue was a miracle. We are so lucky to be alive after what happened. This year we went to see the former Laguna hotel and saw the ruins. They are building a new one now.
We have such warm memories of all the help we received from the people of Thailand. Every day we should act like the people did on the tsunami day: to help each other and to love each other.
In Western countries we too often forget what is really important in life. We take too many things for granted while we should be grateful for small and simple things. Sometimes we think we have everything and do not notice how very little we really need to be happy.
