It seems that Thailand has the habit of wanting the Guiness Book of World Record for "biggest things" here! Bigger doesn't mean better in this case with the new Suvarnnabhumi airport. I'm a frequent flyer and have traveled to many different int'l airports. As I recalled it was reported that Suvarnabhumi's terminal area is 30% bigger than Chap Lek Kok(H.K In't Airport) but the total commercial area for shops and restaurants is 30% less than Chap Lek kok. Something is obviously wrong here! When I first stepped inside the terminal of the new Suvanubhumi, I realized the AOT made two big mistakes. First ..... airprt or airlines offices were visible and they were dirrectly against the walll for any would be passengeres to see. Offices should not be located here at all and they should be replaced with shops or restaurants. Second, unlike other int'l airports where they all displayed departure/arrival informations through large 42" LCDs where people can read the large bold prints from at least 30 feet away, AOT chose to set up the LCDs in a vertical position where they managed to squeeze more informations BUT the letters are way too small for people to see from 20 feet or beyond. It's definite a BOO BOO here!

The floors are very dirty for the new airport and the restrooms are a disgrace! Duty free shops are a joke considering that when you arrive you ......... just before you make go to the immigration from the people moving conveyor belt ......your path is BLOCK by a duty free shop! YES! It's a duty free shop! What are they thinking here? In the end, I still say Hong kong's Chap Lek Kok is still a prettier and more efficient airport than Suvarnabhumi!
