Lawyer: No backdown

November 29 , 2005 - A lawyer who has accused the prime minister of lese majeste by chairing a merit-making ceremony at the Temple of the Emerald Buddha in April is adamant that he will not drop his complaint.
Lawyer Chumpol Sangthong said yesterday that although his co-plaintiff, retired military officer General Kittasak Rathprasert, dropped his complaint against the premier, he, as the first plaintiff, and 20,000 supporters would not back down. Chumpol also handed over more photographic evidence to police officers at the Ratchawang police station.
Meanwhile, Thai Airways pilot Thanit Phromsatith, 55, filed another police complaint accusing Thaksin and his deputy Wissanu Krea-ngam of lese majeste.
Thanit said his complaint, although filed with the same charge against the same suspects, had nothing to do with Chumpol’s case. |
