The Kamlangjai Project, initiated by Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha, invites the public from 15 years and older, including female and juvenile prison inmates, to compete in the project’s logo design contest through 30 June 2009 to win the Princess’s cash awards and plates of honor.
Mr. Kittipong Kitayarak permanent secretary of the Ministry of Justice, said the Kamlangjai Project was initiated by Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha to advocate for inmates who are women and youths, including those deprived of social support.
For the past three years, the project has been aimed at benefiting Thai society. While the media have given their full support to the project and delivered messages in different forms, the project’s organizers think it’s time for the project to have its own logo so as to create a distinct identity and develop greater recognition among the public.
“The logo contest is open to the public aged 15 years and older. Special to the contest to is an opportunity for inmates to compete since they are considered important people and should be encouraged to express their capabilities and knowledge. We would like to invite interested persons to join the project,” Mr. Kittipong said.
The contest allows two types of entries: 1) Contestants from the general public, and 2) Contestants from inmates including youths under the Department of Juvenile Observation and Protection. The design entries must not be smaller than 15 x 15 cm and no larger than an A4 piece of paper. Contestants are free to use water color, pencil color, oil pastel, poster color, or computer graphics. The design must carry the word “Kamlangjai” (Encouragement) and the designers are advised to submit a description of their inspiration in writing with their design entry.
Submissions may be sent to P.O. Box 1118, New Petchburi Road, Bangkok 10311, until 30 June 2009. The application form can be downloaded. For more information, please visit www.kamlangjai.or.th or call 02-502-6689, 02-502-8327, or 082-443-3779.
The winner will received a plague of honor and Baht 50,000 cash prize by Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha. An honorable mention winner will receive a certificate and Baht 20,000 cash prize.
The honorable mention prizes are prepared for both catagories: General Public and Inmates to give opportunity and support to those under the Department of Juvenile Observation and Projection.
Kamlangjai Project was established in 2006 by Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha who wishes to render support to the needy in Thai society, especially those jailbirds who are women, children, youths, and others who are deprived of the opportunity.
The project is aimed at giving support to the groups of people. It does not overlap with other projects by the government. The target groups and activities are selected for maximized benefits and support those government agencies which are lacking of necessities. In addition, the project serves as a center to coordinate with those who wish to make donation and to help people who are deprived of opportunity as wished by Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha
The project is also aimed at making other agncies in the public and private sectors to be aware of the projects and channels to assist and give morale support to the people. Thai society will learn about the people who were once mistep and wish to start a new life and wish happiness, peace, and harmony to happen in the society.
