The election law prohibits a candidate or any other person from inducing voters to vote for the candidate or a particular party by offering assets or benefits which could be moneyconvertible.

Violators will be subject to one to 10 years in prison and Bt20,000 to Bt200,000 in fines, as well as be banned from voting for 10 years.
Moreover, such offerings are also considered a violation of the moneylaundering law.
A candidate who slanders another candidate or party or misleads voters about the pop¬ularity of other candidates or parties will be subject to the same penalties as for votebuy¬ing.
