Pai Lik, son of veteran politician Ruangwit, said his urge to enter the election for the Kamphaengphet seat was simply because his father – a former TRT executive – had been banned from politics for five years.
However, he said that sooner or later he would have become involved with politics anyway because he has been familiar with the world since he was young.
“I followed my father to visit many areas in Kamphaengphet during election campaigns. It inspired me that one day I would like to be an MP like my father,” he said, adding that thanks to his father being banned he will be involved sooner than he expected
“As a son, I learned the way of politics from him. He is not only a father but also a teacher,” said Pai, while admitting that the path to Parliament will not be easy because he will be contesting the poll under the People Power Party banner.
“The political situation is not clear I will have to monitor how it will affect me or not. But I hold to my father’s principle that when we run in election the most important thing is people,” he said.
Pai said his will present himself to voters as someone they can trust.
“The feedback has been good even though I was blocked by some powerful people, “ he said without elaborating, but added: “it has made me learn that a young blood can prove himself in a democracy.”
He believes his father, along with the local support for the defunct Thai Rak Thai Thai and the fact that his political idol is Thaksin Shinawatra will help him win the seat of Kamphaengphet.
