Power scandal at Suvarnabhumi Airport

Latest Development :
January 14: AOT sent representatives to the AEC to lodge a complaint against 14 suspects including Suriya Jungrungreangkit and Srisuk Chantarangsu for alleged involvement in the purchase of the underground powerline system. The probe team has questioned 20 witnesses.

Background:
The probe team investigated the bidding process for the underground powerline system in 2003, which appeared to have been rigged to favour a company that was the only distributor of the pipeline joints specified.

The process of submitting tenders was allegedly plagued with irregularities. Bidders were informed they had to provide additional information just one day before the bidding date. AoT later granted the Bt1.9billion contract to ITDNCC joint venture.

Key suspects: former transport minister suriya jungrungreangkit, then transport ministry permanent secretary Srisook Chandrangsu
