Chiang Mai University will present honorary doctorates
in 14 disciplines to His Majesty the King to celebrate
the 60th anniversary of the King's accession to
the throne.
Pongsak Ungasith, the rector of the university,
said he had been informed by the Office of His
Majesty's Principal Private Secretary that His
Majesty would accept the degrees, but a presentation
date had yet to be fixed. The 14 disciplines include
business administration, accounting, law, medical
science, veterinary science, architecture, art,
education and public health.
Meanwhile the royal exhibition is still drawing
huge crowds.
Although yesterday marked the 16th day of the
exhibition, hundreds of thousands of people visited
it at Impact Muang Thong Thani, where it runs
until today. Since its launch on June 4, more
than five million people have been. A further
one million are expected on the last day today,
to celebrate the life and work of His Majesty
the King, said Government Spokesman Surapong Suebwonglee.
More than 10,000 orders for VCDs and books featuring
exhibits have been received, he said. Surapong
said all the income generated from them would
be presented to His Majesty.
