Marathon run to begin from Feb 26

[MARATHON] The Bangkok-Doi Tung charity marathon "Run for the One We Love" will be held from February 26 to April 2.

The proceeds from the country's longest run, which is part of events commemorating the 60th anniversary celebration of His Majesty the King's accession to the throne, will go to the Thai Red Cross Society to support cancer research.

The route covers 13 provinces: Bangkok, Pathum Thani, Ayutthaya, Angthong, Sing Buri, Uthai Thani, Nakhon Sawan, Phichit, Phitsanulok, Uttaradit, Phrae, Phayao and Chiang Rai (Doi Tung Palace).

The participants will run in a morning and an afternoon session for 35 days, covering a distance of 930km. The race will kick off next Sunday at 5.30am in front of Siam Discovery Centre and proceed towards Victory Monument.

Meanwhile, the Bt242,000 Thailand Temple Run will take place on March 19 in Samut Songkhram.

The tournament will be held to raise funds for HM the King's charitable causes on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of his accession to the throne.

More than 3,000 runners including 600 foreigners from 40 nations are expected to participate in the run. The competition route will cover more than 100 temples in the province.
