Another of Frankie's fiats here. Frankie who knows all... The doubling of army's take on GDP is rather specific. Frankie has no answer to that point. He does however go o/seas attempting to distract i.e. "The economic situation in Thailand at this time is the result of global economic fallout" (Frankie). So how do you account for the relative better performances of countries in the region; Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia Malaysia. ? Do you see these countries having to go cap in hand looking for money to balance the budget ? And do you still think the occupation of Suvarnabhumi airport and Don Muang airport as well as government house was a good idea ? And regarding taking action against illegals, isn't the occupation on tape ? It was a TV melodrama series for months. What's the problem with seeking convictions of PAD who are plainly tresspassing on Thai owned property. |

Even a primary school kid knows that anyone, not necessary "educated" or a minister, can borrow some quick money for spending ahead of time and possible future income. But a really educated person or a minister must know that giving handouts with massive borrowings in a rush is very dangerous and needs to be carefully evaluated well ahead of the decision is made. Otherwise, if the minister miscalculated or made the decision with hidden agenda, say for buying votes, then the country and the people will end up being heavily indebted. The PAD government is the root cause of most of the damages to Thailand in the past. And now the PAD government is in the process to make more and even greater damages to the country and Thai people. It is a shame for anyone rushing to say that such "policies" of massive borrowings in a rush is wise and educated. The PAD are those (once) Privileged And (now) Dying classes. It is deplorable that the PAD are trying to drag Thailand to die with them. |

The economic situation in Thailand at this time is the result of a global economic fallout. This country as with all others around the world have to take steps to weather the slowdown. Under the capable hands of educated Ministers such as Abhisit and Korn this country will weather this storm. The conclusion is that it it not about extra payments to the military. Who could ever believe that?????? |

In fact the political instability that we have seen in Thailand over the past 3 years may actually have been a blessing in disguise. Businesses and industry had to take a cautious approach to investment and aggressive expansion plans were delayed. In addition, due to the Tum Tum Goong effect of 10 years ago; the Thai banking sector was forced to strengthen its financial footings and companies forced to be more cautious and deliberate in their headlong rush to growth. But we still haven’t felt the full effect of the Hambuger Crisis yet. When the world’s largest economy and leader in consumer spending faces a historical recession due to its weakened financial underpinnings the rest of the world will suffer also. This is not a localized crisis as was Tum Yum Goong but is worldwide. No amount of government spending will get us out of this crisis. Our misplaced rush towards globalization with our skilled but cheap labor overlooked our inate strenght. That strenght is the land. Our King has been advising us for 30 years now of Sufficiency Economy. We did not take his advice to heart. We did not invest in agro-industry and an integrated growth that is underpinned by agriculture. We rushed forward to consumerism, globalization, and hi-tech and but left the majority of the population underdeveloped and disenfranchised. The only way that we can get out of this crisis is for the U.S. to quickly overcome its own crisis. |

More propaganda. More name calling. The very ones who wanted to exclude Thais from the democratic process are themselves short education wise. They wanted only 30% of parliamentarians elected. Remember ? This blog is about economics. Not drugs. And certainly not about scoreboarding. Stay on message or be known as a fool. It's about the economy. The most important thing to grasp is that that gross domestic product (GDP) is like a piece of cake......if one section takes more it follows that other sections will get less. The most significant economic mistake Thailand has made since the coup in 2006, is to double the army take. Under Taksin the army had a reasonable 5% of GDP. It is a matter of fact that the army's take is nearly double that now, when compared to the Taksin era. What follows is that taxes will have to be raised. Property tax and inheritance taxes have been flagged by the PM. Then again the government will have to borrow approx one quarter of GDP or 200 billion Bt and even then the budget will not be balanced . It is also premised on tourism will be only down to 14 million visitors. When taxes are raised even less cash will be in circulation. In short the cost of the gun toting army coup in 2006, is a cost that will have to be born by working people who can least aford it. And it will also capture the middle classes. That is part of the reason why the economic stimulus package will fail. It will be a burden for years to come because the borrowed 200 billion Bt will have to be repaid or Thailand will become a bankrupt state. So get off he name calling. Taksin is gone. Unless you are on army pay..this money problem is coming to someone very close to YOU ! |

RE: IP203.206.42.191 The above posting shows the mentallity of some of the morons that remain lackys of the fugative Shinawatra. The positive side to this is of course that with idiots like these as supporters Shinawatra has no hope of getting back into power, or into the country for that matter. |

Thankyou my loyal subjects, soon I will become the new King of Thailand and then you can all crawl on your knees and worship me, i will let you do this only because I love all of you. and I am the most honest and greatest man in Thailand I will return soon to take my place as the new king long live Thakisin ramaX, |

Not disappointed and Observer, to even try to convince someone who comes by the nick Real Truth is futile. Half Truth, maybe. If you want to engage him perhaps you should use a nick like False Lies or Bluff Truth. Then, like him, you can cock up lots of scenarios without compromising your intergrity.After all the nick you use can justify your facts. What the Thaksin arse lickers here don't want to come to terms is that a corrupt politician who would have eventually bankrupted the Kingdom and change it's way of life, is GONE. They and their families have probably lost out, hence the attitude towards the new goverment. In such times, every nation expects it's loyal citizens to support all institutions to bring peace and stability. By doing the reverse they are only showing what traitor's would do. The less such people Thailand has, the better for the Kingdom. And Kingdom, not republic. |

Bravo. There is a big difference between Natural Causes and manmade causes. The closure of the airport by PAD was illegal under international law. Also many tourists who were caught in Thailand who couldn't get back to their home countries lost countless money from the illegal closure. These people may not come back as tourists again. |

My, my, my. A minister from a coalition party (under the helm of newin no less), in this democrat led government; showing a high level of political maturity and etiquette decides to resign even before any charges or improprieties are filed against him. The democrat’s morality may be rubbing off on their coalition partners. Do you think that thaksin’s puppets would do the same? Compare this with what thaksin’s mickey mouse luke krog ministers have done? • noppadonsin had to be shown the door by the Consitutional Court. • jakrapoopsin had to be charged with Lese Majeste before leaving. • samaksin had to be adjudged ‘guilty’ for improprieties to ‘formally’ boot him out. • 3ps had to be disbanded and executives barred from politics due to elections irregularity. These are facts ‘real truth’; not your real truth’s (or is it stevie’s) form of half truth and true lies. stevie’s is still in denial concerning the wanton murder of innocents during thaksin’s war on the people. This is a slap in the face to thasinocracy where he and his hoodlums had to be dragged kicking and screaming out of office. And now again these same supporters are still kicking and screaming like little babies because they were outsmarted in a democratic election of PM in parliament. I didn’t see any hijacking taking place in a nationally televised vote by the ‘people’s representatives’. |

real truth – who cares about the poll topic? There have been discussion concerning it already and it’s the facts and reality of the matter vs. your half truths, true lies, and denials. buic has made a number of good points regarding the crudity, violence prone, and ‘paid for’ red shirted mob vs. a 7 month peaceful demonstration against a nominee government. The only violence from PAD were its barbs and all too true accusations against thaksin’s luke krogs. |

It proves that the PAD does not only represent those (once) Privileged And (now) Dying classes, but also the illegal drug rings. It is widely reported that the illegal drug trading is coming back strongly after the coup in 2006 and it will reach its peak after the PAD is now in power. Poor Thailand! |
|||
Suddenly I HEAR THE SOUND OF SILENCE from our mouthy MORE REAL TRUTH .Come on fella lets hear you exlain away my last Post concerning the extrajudicial killings of 2500-3000 men,women and children in the purge on drugs,ordered by the gutless convicted criminal who jumed bail to save his ass, look forward to a reply! |

Sometimes Bravo wonders what's the big deal with Bangkok's airports closure. Everyone blaming the PADs with escalating damaging costs. The latest were the THAI management because most THAI staff went on PADs stage against their management's will, just like many other state enterprises staff who went to drive out the Thug and its pups with their peaceful hand-clappers. Bravo also joined the fun clapping with big and small hand-clappers. Clap. Clap. to drive away the Penang Stevie who chose to live in his wonderland or maybe thugsland la. Bravo once invited him to see the size of PADs protest in Rajdamnoen which he said just a few hundreds. Stevie later decided to come to Bravo's land but too late because the airports were closed, land ports were open so he traveled overland n now in Bangkok. No, la Steven? Frankie- spot on! The real truth is Steven from Penang now in Bangkok appearing here in various IDs, isn't la stevie? |

Heavy snowing in Europe caused many countries much hardship affecting all modes of transportation; schools closed, some places without electricity, airports closed, cities paralysed, .... -- that was due to natural calamity that are many times more damaging than when AOT closed both Bangkok airports during PADs peaceful protests. |
|||
Do these people see the TRUTH in the order issued in the 2002 drug purge when 2500-3000 people lost their lives and not one case has ever got to court.Do these stupid followers of the man who gave the order"bring them in dead or alive" expect us to believe the LOGIC(a much used word of some posters) that they all murdered each other.No prizes for guessing who issued the order. |

re buic. The question above is about an economic stimulus package. Your comment is about............? Propaganda ? Ah. I see. Readers here are pretty well agreed the stimulus package is not going to work. And it is apparent your personalised comments are not working here and that you have nothing to say re the stimulus package to convince readers otherwise. Observer however, does make a point. He says the amount is piddling. However I am wondering whether any nation in the region will make a loan available after recent political turmoil here. The facts are as follows; "The foreign tranche will cover US$2 billion or almost Bt70 billion in overseas borrowings from the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank or the Japan Bank for International Cooperation". Overseas borrowings are described as massive by Nation. "The Cabinet approved on Tuesday massive domestic and foreign borrowings to finance investment of the state enterprises and new public projects to stimulate the economy. The domestic tranche will amount to Bt200 billion, which represents short-term facility to ease the liquidity of the state enterprises". Stay away buic or run the risk of being shown to be a fool.. You are not up to speed in this discussion. |

thaksin, 3ps/pt/redshirts they all be bad losers. Just like many times before and other thaksin supporters like steven, and judge/uncle sam and and thaksin himself, they keep denial that they are losers. Red shrt mob are all losers. They not have any political ideals or agenda. All they want is chance to get back power and put back crook to be prime minister. Strange to see peaceful red shirt mob. Normally red shirts only have violence. Look at Chiang Mai where they killed father of PAD leader there. Look at many peaceful demonstration of PAD with many red shirts barking and causing trouble. Look at peaceful takeover of government house and thaksin supporters throw and shoot bombs against old men and women. All losers with self-denial that be thaksin and his supporters. |

Re: IP 58.8.73.227. (Alias Steven). It is said that the truth hurts,and reading the rantings in that response, it seems that is so. It goes on about lies, but never mentions what the lies are. Maybe because Steven doesn't know the truth from the end of his nose. It appears that all Shinawatra hangers on often use the word democracy, when it is evident they have no clue to its meaning. They blindly follow a fugative tyrant who has been described by the UN commission on human rights as " a human rights abuser of the worst kind " |
|||
By the way 200 billion bahts is a paltry 4 billion pounds and about 6 billion dollars if this country cant raise this piddling amount,then its goodnight Thailand. Didnt think it through again Thaksinites |
