Rice-Pledging Scheme

Yingluck to ask for postponement for NACC testimony : chief lawyer

Caretaker premier Yingluck Shinawatra is to ask for a postponement in providing testimony to the national anti-graft committee on the rice-pledging scheme because more time is needed to compile documents, the chief of her legal team said on Thursday.

The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has charged Yingluck with neglect of duty for failing to stop the scheme from damaging the state. She is due to testify to the NACC on March 14.

Phiraphan Phalusuk said there are several documents related to the charges and the team of lawyers needed more time to prepare.

He added the NACC had allowed Yingluck's lawyers to review evidence against her in the ricepledging case on Tuesday. Phiraphan is also caretaker Science and Technology minister.
