Democrats point finger at Pheu Thai for proposing PM as No 1 party list

Pheu Thai Party has shown its intention to continue the "Thaksin regime" by proposing caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra as the No 1 partylist candidate, deputy Democrat Party spokesman Jurit Laksanawisit said Monday.

No one can guarantee that Yingluck and her fellow party members would not vote in favour of the blanket amnesty bill were they to take power after the election. She could well use the law to whitewash her brother, former premier Thaksin Shinawatra.

"The cycle of Thai politics is going to back to 'Thaksin orders, Yingluck does', making major problems for all Thais," Jurit said.

Democrat Party spokesman Chavanond Intharakomalsut said the Pheu Thai Party might believe that Shinawatra family is still the strongest opportunity for its party but is worried that Yingluck could not take a stand.

It has thus tried to pave the way for Yingluck though the election. "During the election, the Democrat Party would not campaign against Thaksin regime. My party will instead hold a political reform forum to design a future for Thailand that everybody want to see," he said.
