Police will review efforts to fight against problems of human trafficking particularly in fishery industry and illegal workers following US' downgrade, acting police chief Pol Gen Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit has said.

He said on Monday he was disappointed that the US State Department has downgraded Thailand to be among the worst human trafficking countries.

The general said the Thai police will review the TIP report thoroughly and renew the effort to fight human trafficking problems, especially in the fisheries industry and among those involved in the illegal immigration of Rohingya Muslims and Xinjiang Uygur, in line with international human rights standards.

Gen Watcharapol added that the Thai police have also worked hard in combating against counterfeiting and pirated consumer goods to avoid being targeted by international governments which could affect the country’s overall economy.
