Thailand's Granular badminton team decided to back out of the Star Australian Badminton Open, which is due to take place in Sydney between June 24 to 29 following the Australia's decision against Thai military.

The withdrawal from the US$750,000 Superseries event of the nine-member Thai squad led by world No. 23 Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk came shortly after Australia decided to downgrade mutual relations, issue travel bans for high-ranking officers and cut defence cooperation in the wake of the Thai military's power seizure.
