Somyos' son submits complaint to Criminal Court

A son of Somyos Prueksakasemsuk, the former editor of the Voice of Thaksin, on Monday filed a complaint with the Criminal Court, seeking the right for his father to be released on bail.

Panithan Prueksakasemsuk submitted the complaint to the Criminal Court chief of justice through Surajit Sriboonma, the secretary of the Criminal Court.

His father has been arrested and detained without bail for having allegedly violated Article 112 of the Criminal Code or the lesemajeste law.

Panithan has been staging a 112hour hunger strike in front of the Criminal Court since Saturday to pressure the court to approve Somyos' bail.

After he submitted the complaint to the court secretary, Panithan returned to his tent on the sidewalk in front of the court on Ratchadaphisek Road. He and his friend have had their heads shaved as part of the demonstration to demand the right to bail for Somyos.

Panithan then continued his hunger strike, which he plans to hold for a total of 112 hours.

About 30 Thammasat University and redshirt supporters turned up to show moral support for Panithan.

Panithan then rested inside his tent and checked news on his iPAD.

Panithan told reporters that his father was denied bail without proper cause, adding that others charged with more severe offences were allowed bail.
