Former Parliament president Somsak Kiatsuranont and Senate Speaker Nikom Wiratpanij yesterday sought to postpone their acknowledgement of charges to be handed down by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), involving illegal amendment of the chart

Both were summoned to acknowledge the charges yesterday, but failed to turn up. The NACC was notified that they could not appear because they were busy, but would be available after the February 2 election.

Somsak claimed he was busy with election campaign in the provinces, while Nikom said he was involved in personal business in the North.

The NACC said they have until January 27 to acknowledge the charges, or they will lose the right to defend themselves.
