Reds oppose demands

Red-shirt leaders Jatuporn Promphan and Thida Thavornseth yesterday opposed demands by protesters that PM Yingluck Shinawatra and her Cabinet must not stay on as a caretaker administration. They also announced the cancellation of a rally in Ayutthaya today.

Meanwhile, a mob of about 150 reds rallied in cars and motorcycles in Lamphun in a show of support of the PM. They drove from Pheu Thai Party's local branch and stopped at the provincial hall to read a statement of support for the government and attacked the anti-government movement.

A women's network from Chiang Rai also voiced support for Yingluck.

Secretary of the Chiang Rai Committee of Thai Women's Empowerment Foundation, Thitika Sudejmak, led 500 women to present a letter to the local governor in support of Yingluck after she dissolved the House. In the letter they said Chiang Rai women opposed the anti-government protesters because their actions were undemocratic.
