Red shirts force anti-government group to call off protest in Chiang Mai

A red-shirt group forced supporters of the People's Democratic Reform Committee to call off their protest in Chiang Mai yesterday.



A group of government opponents, calling themselves the PDRC Chiang Mai, had gathered inside Jet Yod Temple since the morning to |prepare for a rally at 3pm.

But at 1.30pm, red shirts led by Apichart Insorn arrived outside the |temple and demanded the PDRC group to cancel the event.

At 1.45pm, the two sides confronted each other but the PDRC group was outnumbered so it had to stop its activities and disperse after the red shirts demolished their stage.
