Prem urges Thais to heed HM's New Year speech

Privy Council President Prem Tinsulanonda on Thursday urged Thais to heed His Majesty the King's New Year speech about bringing love and unity.

Prem was speaking to reporters after senior police, military officers and businessmen visited him on the occasion of the New Year.

Prem said His Majesty's speech was short but it conveyed a lot of meaning.

"To know its meaning, we must read the speech several times. If everyone reads the speech and understands it, they will at least know how to bring about love and unity among Thais," Prem said.

"I would like to tell all Thais that they should heed and implement what is said in the speech."

Prem declined to comment when asked whether he was concerned about the current political situation. "That's all I wanted to say," he said.

Among Prem's New Year well-wishers were Deputy Defence Minister Gen Yutthasak Sasiprapha, National Police Chief Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew, Deputy Army chief Gen Udomdej Sitabutr, and former Army chief Gen Anupong Paochinda.
