A policeman accused of shooting at a crowd of anti-government protesters, and a group of protesters who reportedly attacked the officer following the shooting, will all be charged, Bangkok police chief Pol Lt Gen Camronwit Toopgrajank said Wednesday.
The protesters would be charged with assaulting Pol Sr Sgt Maj Khongphet Phetkanha, and he will be charged with firing on the crowd, Camronwit said.
Details of the charges, and whether they would be filed individually against the protesters, would be decided soon, he added. Khongphet is now safe but still unable to provide a statement.
Camronwit said the officer had been assigned to gather intelligence at a rally site in front of the Army Club, where the protesters had gathered and threatened to enter the compound to disrupt a meeting between Election Commission members and key government figures.
